Wayang Orang / Dance Drama
You can see the performance of some dancers dressed in traditional Javanese costume in Performing Arts Theatre every Wednesday starting at 8.15 pm till midnight. Gamelan, Indonesian traditional musical instrument, becomes the sound and music for this dance drama.The stories performed are usually taken from Mahabrata and Ramayana Hindu epics.

Ketoprak

A modernized version of Wayang Orang, ketoprak has gained more popularity these days for its versatility. It's also accompanied with gamelan music but simpler in costume and dialogue. You can see ketoprak show at Gedung Kesenian Theatre every Wednesday and Thursday evening starting at 8 pm.

Traditional Indonesian Dance

Staged in Taman Mini Indonesia Indah every Sunday from 9 am - 2 pm and at Ancol Art Market every Saturday evening or Sunday morning, traditional dances from various regions in Indonesia are bound to mesmerize the beholders.

Wayang Kulit / Leather Puppet Shadow Play

Performed every second and last Saturday night of the month at the Central Museum in Jakarta, wayang kulit offers unusual and unique sight.

Gamelan Music
Every Sunday morning, Sundanese Gamelan music is performed in Central Museum.

Pameran Seni Rupa/ Art Exhibition

You can see permanent exhibition at Balai Seni Rupa, Jalan Taman Fatahillah, Jakarta. Open daily.

Oceanarium

You can watch sea lions and dolphins performing superb acts at Taman Impian Jaya Ancol, every day, from 9 am to 6 pm.



Keong Emas Imax Theatre, TMII

'Beatiful Indonesia', the Imax film, was initiated by former First Lady Tien Soeharto to present the beauty of this nation from many different aspects. The Cinema theatre screens 'Beautiful Indonesia' Mondays to Fridays from 11 am to 3 pm. Sundays and holidays from 10 am to 4 pm while on every Saturday it performs a special theme.
